Struggling for Truth in a mad world

ISKCON Star Wars

The other day watching Star Wars, the following analogy occurred to me. The Sith are the materialistic devotees that take to the dark side of the force, that is devotional service for gain and fame, etc. Annakin personifies some devotees that once were totally surrendered to the mission, sincerely working hard for Srila Prabhupada to the maximum. And as Srila Prabhupada’s manifest lila ended, they were convinced by the dark side to continue the newly created materialistic religion.

They were convinced by the Siths (the materialistic people in the guise of devotees) to join the dark side and like Annakin, their reasons were personal gain. Although they could see so many wrongs and violations of Srila Prabhupada’s instructions, they took to the “monkey-no see” policy because they wanted to save their acquired fame, prestige, position and various perks, all in the name of somehow continuing, not disrupting or destroying the legacy.

Compare that with Annakin trying to save his wife from death, a selfish act passing as pious. Once Annakin, blinded by his material desires, helped the dark side by allowing them the atrocities, he himself became Darth Vader and went along fully with the demoniac activities, not only allowing them but now taking part.

Course of Action

The instruction of Srila Prabhupada about materialistic people in the guise of devotees is to neglect them. That means you do not participate in their gatherings, collections, or programs, even if they seem to be spiritual. Neglect is perfect because you can actively and positively engage in Krishna Consciousness. You can denounce wrongs and that is alright, but once that is clear to the world to see with your testimony, neglect is the ongoing answer.

There will always be armies of clones willing to join rotten religions. As for ourselves, let’s do the right thing and attract those few sincere souls that look for the real thing. Let the Siths and their vassals rejoice in their relationship. We have no business in that.

Let’s not lose time. All is said, especially on the Internet. Some devotees are looking for the next action to revive Srila Prabhupada’s pure message and program. Here it is:

Lets unite locally and make available the real, simple and sublime taste of Krsna Consciousness, and do some practical work in the preaching mission, according to our means, small that they might be. Move on and find sincere devotees that are not after money, fame or material assets in the pursuit of Krsna Consciousness, and do some program with them. Preach in the means of your possibilities and Krishna and Srila Prabhupada will help.

We do not need a temple complex, an expensive property or the rubber stamp of a big gun, fat cardinal. We already have the full blessings of Srila Prabhupada in following his instructions, and the whole guru parampara is real, potent backing.

Neglect the false leaders is the answer. Let them and their cohorts follow the usual path of the material world. Our only concern is to create Vaikuntha atmosphere.
